Our DAMN LAWYERS investigation is yielding more complaints about lawyers accused of preying on families in inheritance cases. Texas Families in Estate Disputes – Beware of Predatory Lawyers
One family’s experience with attorneys Nick Abaza, Jorge Borunda, and Michael Trevino offers a cautionary example for Texas consumers navigating probate and estate disputes.
Houston, TX, March 24, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Following its warning against predatory lawyers on Tuesday, March 17th, Houston-based organization Stop Legal Bullying Now, LLC is also cautioning Texas citizens about mandatory arbitration clauses that predatory lawyers use to quietly force clients to waive their Seventh Amendment right to a fair trial.

While I wasn’t able to find any reviews from Jorge Boruda and Michael Trevino, the review from Seth Nicamoff doesn’t look suspicious. However, other reviews appear to violate Google’s TOS. Jamie Reneau is suspicious.

Before You Sign Anything — A Checklist
Before hiring an attorney or signing any legal agreement:
- Read every clause — including all fine print
- Ask specifically: "Does this agreement contain an arbitration clause?"
- Have a second, independent attorney review the contract before signing
- Understand the fee structure completely (hourly vs. contingency)
- Ask for a written estimate of total potential costs
- Understand what "discovery" means in your case and what it may cost
- Know your rights if you want to terminate the representation
⚠ Understanding Arbitration Clauses
Many legal engagement agreements contain mandatory arbitration clauses that significantly limit your ability to challenge outcomes later. What you should know before signing:
- Arbitration is private — not a public courtroom
- Arbitrators are not judges — they are private, paid professionals
- Conflict-of-interest disclosures may be incomplete or not required
- Your ability to appeal an arbitration decision is extremely limited
- Once you sign, you typically waive your right to a jury trial
